Secretary

Style

Work Type:

My work type is ISFP and my style is that of an "observant, loyal helper." I am adaptable, caring, cooperative and loyal. I do not like disagreements. I am not interested in dominating or impressing other people. I like to work in a business situation where people are important and where the people I work with go about their business and enjoy it the way I do. I enjoy secretTimes New Roman work because I can see the results of supporting my boss and working together as team. I work best with a boss who understands me, lets me get my job done and gives me some flexibility in completing my tasks. I also prefer to work in an environment that is reasonably quiet and well-ordered.

Career Type:

My primary career type is "social." I am very interested in other people and sensitive to their needs. I like to understand people and help them. I do this both at work and at home with my family. Whenever I have had a choice about where to work I have always chosen a company or a department where people really get along together, are friendly, and help each other. This kind of place is most satisfying for me and working there can be fun. My secondary career type is "conventional." I like the structured, orderly environment of the office of an organized company with clear and well-defined rules and policies. I once worked in an architectís office where everything was very loose. Even though the people were friendly, I couldnít stand the disorganization and had to leave after three months. I am loyal and hard working and can do a great job for a boss who really appreciates me. My tertiary career type is "artistic." I like expressing myself through creative activities including decorating, photography, and sketching with water colors. I like reading about art and architecture, and some of my friends are in the arts.

Motivation

Work Environment Interests:

I want to be with people who are interested in interacting with others regularly, concerned and empathetic about me, friendly and talkative about a wide variety of things including subjects outside of work, interested in company activities such as bowling and picnics, and mostly interested in communicating face-to-face. I enjoy working in a suburban or rural environment, in an old and interesting building, in a quiet, low-keyed office, and can have a place where I can use my own pictures and other things.

Career Drivers:

My primary career driver is "social contribution." I enjoy helping and working for others whenever possible. I like to entertain, care for children, and make life easier for a good boss (especially if he or she is important to the company, because I feel like that makes me important to the company). My secondary career driver is "affiliation." I like working in a good company that is successful and well thought of by everyone I know. I like the security of belonging to a "family" and have always looked for jobs where the company considered itself to be family. I donít like companies where people are not treated well; I am loyal and want my bosses to recognize that and take care of me. Except for the job in the architectís office that I quit because it was so disorganized, I have worked a long time in one company.

Values and Needs:

The things that are most important to me and that I feel really strong about keeping in my work and life are: working with others, helping others, stability, exercising competence, and affiliation. The values and needs that I feel are not yet included enough in my worklife and that I would like to see better developed are achievement, adventure/excitement, helping society, community, and respect from others. I am working to include these things by doing more work as a volunteer and choosing what I think are very good causes to work for in my community.

Work Activitiy Interests:

The kinds of jobs I enjoy most are acting as a host, calming people down, organizing events, resolving conflicts among people, and talking on the phone.

Skills

(People, Data, Physical, Adaptive):

The things I do best are serving others, showing warmth and support, working effectively on a team, taking quality photographs, and operating a computer terminal. I would like to develop more skill on my job in organizing information logically, evaluating data and ideas, influencing others, interviewing for information, and planning work assignments. I have always tried to develop myself by asking my boss to give me more responsibility and training wherever possible.

The personal qualities that are most important to me and that I think make me a good worker include being able to work well in structured environment, being accurate, having integrity, being friendly, and being hardworking. I need to do better at being assertive, analytical, persistent, risk taking, and tough-minded.

Internal Barriers

My main barriers are difficulty selling myself, feelings of being unsophisticated, lack of assertiveness, overly trusting, and lack of confidence.
