Sample Career Portrait Snapshot
Mid-Level
Corporate Manager
Style
Work Type:
My work type is ISTJ and my style is that of the "analytical manager of facts and details." I am practical, logical, dependable, orderly, matter-of-fact, and well organized. Every job I have has been one that requires my being well organized and able to work with numbers or other detailed pieces of information that have to be remembered, analyzed, put into the right place, and properly categorized. I get a lot of pleasure from managing in an orderly, well structured, and stable environment without too many surprises.
Motivation
Career Drivers:
My primary career driver is "life-work balance." I am most interested in ensuring that I have a balanced life that includes my interests outside of work, my family, and my friends, and that work doesnít dominate my life. I work hard when I am in the office and do a good job, because I want to be able to feel free and comfortable about pursuing my other interests. My secondary career driver is "professional achievement." I am very interested in being an expert in my field and work and study toward developing a better understanding and more knowledge.
Skills
(People, Data, Physical, Adaptive):
My most important skills include administering policy and programs, organizing information logically, negotiating contracts, keeping records, and thinking logically. I use these continuously on my current job and would want to continue using these skills wherever I worked. The skills that I consider to be most in need of development include relating to a wide variety of people, communicating effectively, using statistics, delegating responsibility, and resolving conflicts. I also feel that here, as in the values and needs area, that these skills will be developed as I grow in my job and the company.
My most important adaptive skills include being hardworking, organized, self-disciplined, steady, and reliable. I need to work on improving in being more open to others, imaginative, concerned about people, demanding of others, and a better team player.
Internal Barriers
The internal barriers that I feel can hold me back the most and that I need to give attention to overcoming include difficulty with taking criticism, black-or-white thinking, difficulty selling myself, being easily irritated, and inflexibility.
